ASK A LIBRARIAN?

"Ask a Librarian" is a virtual platform for students and faculty to the virtual reference librarian of the UEP library. 

 

Through this service, clients will be able to directly connect with the librarian through chat and e-mail support services.

 

This will also be a grievance site for clienteles that are not satisfied with the services of the library for improvement.

what can i ask?

audio-visual room online reservation

The faculty and students of the university can reserve the audio-visual room through online. Just send us an email or chat and we will schedule the availability. Attach a picture of your duly-authenticated library ID in the e-mail/message. Present it also upon arrival in the library.

Response regarding the audio-visual room schedule will be sent 2-3 working days so make sure that you schedule ahead of time.

ready reference

Ready reference questions are questions that is answerable through use of reference materials such as encyclopedia, dictionary, handbooks, etc. 

​

Example of these questions are “What is the tallest mountain in the world?” and “Who is Post Malone?”

​

Respond will be sent within 1 day.

Directional questions

Directional questions are questions that ask specific location. 

​

Examples of these questions are “Where can I find this book in the library?” or “Where is the thesis section of the library?”

​

Be sure to visit the OPAC first (Online Public Access Catalog) to browse through our collection.

​

A template for thesis will be released soon!

With the thesis manual, you can easily start your thesis without thinking what font you should use, or spacing, or the indention of citation. It's all there!

Book recommendation

When a client is interested in a certain subject, the reference librarian can recommend titles for reading. Note that only the titles of the books will be responded, and not send the actual copy of the books.

​

Example of this is when a particular client is into recreational reading of vampire books. The reference librarian can recommend titles such as “Twilight” or “Vampire Diaries.”

Response will be sent within 1-2 working days.

journal recommendation

Same as book recommendation, but on journals and scholarly articles.

​

This service will utilize free database sites.

​

Response will be sent within 1-2 working days.

expert research assistance
introducing

When a client is doing an academic paper that requires reputable source, the reference librarian can assist. This service also includes assistance in realization of research topics.

​

Example of this is when the client is writing a research paper about “The Concept of Death and its Manifestation in Children’s Literature”. The reference librarian can recommend non-extensive bibliographies with the same theme on different perspectives (Asian literature perspective, Western literature perspective, oral literature, etc.)

​

Response will be sent within 3-5 working days.
